Star Wars had a good weekend. Friday's Summer Game Fest showcase delivered the two things fans were waiting on: real gameplay for Star Wars: Zero Company with a confirmed August 27 release date, and a story trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer ahead of its October 6 launch. Here's the short version of both, with full previews coming later this week.

Zero Company: the leak was right

The gameplay trailer confirmed what last week's leak claimed: August 27, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with preorders open now. The reveal showed turn-based squad tactics straight out of the XCOM playbook, which fits: Bit Reactor is staffed with the people who built modern XCOM. You play Hawks, a former Republic officer assembling a squad of specialists against a Separatist-aligned cult led by one Kundri Fathom. The trailer ended with Anakin Skywalker, confirming canon characters thread through the campaign.

Galactic Racer: podracing gets a story

Fuse Games' trailer focused on the campaign: you're Shade, a newcomer climbing the unsanctioned Galactic League in the New Republic era, with a rival named Kestar Bool. Sebulba and Bossk return, and Ben Quadinaros is confirmed playable, a deep cut we respect. October 6, PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S.

What didn't show

Star Wars Jedi 3. Rumors had pointed at a reveal somewhere in the June showcases; it skipped all of them. More on what we actually know about that game later this week.

What to do with this: if you only track one, make it Zero Company: a finished date, real gameplay, and the strongest pedigree in Star Wars gaming right now. Trailer roundup via StarWars.com and GameSpot's SGF recap.
