Star Wars Jedi 3 did not show up at Summer Game Fest, State of Play, or the Xbox Games Showcase, despite weeks of reveal speculation. That leaves Cal Kestis fans exactly where they started, so here's a clean split of what's confirmed versus what's rumor.
What's confirmed
- Respawn is making it. The studio has said it's continuing Cal's story, and Cameron Monaghan is set to reprise the role.
- It's been in development since around 2023.
What's rumor (treat accordingly)
- Kinda Funny's Tim Gettys claimed he'd "heard things" about a June reveal, then walked it back. That's how we got here.
- Insider Tom Henderson reports the game centers on an older Cal Kestis.
- A separate claim (from the Idle Sloth account) describes less-linear design with galactic hubs and a darker story built around a new Force-linked faction that isn't the Empire.
- None of this is confirmed by EA or Respawn. Sources: ComicBook's rumor rundown and Vice on the Henderson report.
Why the silence probably makes sense
Director Stig Asmussen left before this project got rolling, and EA's Respawn layoffs touched the wider studio. A team rebuilding its leadership mid-project doesn't rush a reveal it can't back up. Frustrating, but better than a trailer three years ahead of the game.
What to do with this: nothing needs deciding. Survivor is still the best way to spend the wait, especially when it goes on sale. With the Steam Summer Sale landing this month, it almost certainly will.
