Short answer: there is no release date. No date, no title, no trailer, and no gameplay. Respawn is making a third Cal Kestis game and that is close to the extent of what anyone can say for certain.
This is where we keep track of what is actually known. When something real happens, we update it.
December 2026 is a manga, not the game
You will see headlines announcing a Star Wars Jedi release on December 1, 2026. That is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Volume 3, the manga adaptation continuing Cal's story in print. It is not the video game, and buying it expecting Jedi 3 will disappoint you.
What is confirmed
- A third Jedi game exists and is in development at Respawn. Lucasfilm has reconfirmed this.
- Cal Kestis returns. This is the third part of his story, not a spin-off with a new lead.
- Work is ongoing right now. Respawn spent this summer hiring for the Star Wars Jedi team, including a Narrative Designer, which is real evidence of active development. Our report.
That is the confirmed list. It contains no date, no platforms and no title, because none of those has been announced.
What is rumored, and how much to trust it
Everything in this section is reporting or leak, not confirmation. We have labeled each one with where it came from.
A time jump, and an older Cal. Insider Gaming reported the game opens years after Survivor, possibly a longer gap than the five years between the first two games. Our report.
A darker tone, and the dark side. Leaks describe a more mature register with Cal wrestling with the dark side, and an antagonist tied to a new faction. Consistent with where Survivor left him, which makes it plausible and also makes it the easiest thing for a fake leak to guess.
Bigger, more open spaces. Reports point to expansive hubs rather than the more linear structure of the earlier games, with more traversal and new Force powers. Treat as unconfirmed.
Release windows that keep moving. Various leaks have claimed the first half of 2026, then Q4 2026. The first has already passed without a reveal. Nothing has come from EA or Respawn.
Why 2026 looks unlikely
The strongest evidence is not a leak, it is an absence. Jedi 3 skipped every major showcase this summer: Summer Game Fest, State of Play, and the Xbox Games Showcase. Our report.
Games launching inside twelve months usually show themselves. A game with no reveal, no title and no trailer in September is not shipping in December, and publishers do not hire narrative designers for projects in final polish.
Our honest read
Expect 2027 at the earliest, and do not be surprised by 2028. The gap between Fallen Order (2019) and Survivor (2023) was four years, and Survivor came out in 2023, so we are already past that spacing with nothing shown.
None of this means the game is troubled. Respawn is hiring for it, Lucasfilm keeps confirming it, and the series has earned patience. It just is not close.
The details
- We keep one page per game stuck in limbo and update it rather than posting a new article per rumor. See also Star Wars Eclipse, the KOTOR Remake, and every upcoming Star Wars game.
- The December 1, 2026 date belongs to the Fallen Order manga, Volume 3, per Collider.
- Rumor sourcing: Insider Gaming on the time jump, and various leak reports on tone and structure. None of it is confirmed by EA or Respawn.
- Nothing here is an official release-date announcement, because there has not been one.
