Two real pieces of KOTOR Remake news in one week, after years of near-silence. First: Saber Interactive's new Chief Business Officer, Steve Allison, wrote on Reddit that the studio is aiming at a "busy 2028": "that includes Space Marine, [John] Wick, hopefully KOTOR Remake, and a few unannounced titles." The post was later deleted, and Saber clarified it wasn't an official date. Second: insider "100% Star Wars" reports the game will be re-revealed before the end of 2026, with December's Game Awards the likeliest stage.
Why it matters
We've been hard on this project (it's the "believe it when you see it" entry in our 2026 tracker), but note what's changed. "Hopefully 2028" from a Saber executive, even walked back, is the first time anyone attached to the project has named a year in public. And 2028 would be a poetic target: KOTOR's 25th anniversary. The re-reveal report separately claims development has been "ramping up" and going smoothly in the roughly three years since Saber restarted the game from scratch after taking it over from Aspyr.
The details
- The Allison remark, with Saber's walk-back, via PC Gamer.
- The re-reveal report via PlayStation Universe and Bespin Bulletin.
- Labeling matters: the 2028 line is a deleted informal comment; the re-reveal claim is an insider report. Neither is an announcement from Saber or Lucasfilm Games.
What to do with this: the rational update is small: from "who knows" to "maybe footage by December, maybe a game in 2028." We'll upgrade the tracker when there's a trailer, not before.
