Ten Star Wars games are Steam Deck Verified, sixteen are Playable, and thirteen carry Valve's red Unsupported mark. The best of the Verified list is easy: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Squadrons and the Dark Forces Remaster all run with nothing to fix. The awkward part of the list is that Valve's red mark sits on Zero Company, the game most of you are asking about, while 164 ProtonDB reports rate it Platinum, the top tier. Both of those things are true and this guide explains what to do about it.
We pulled every one of the 43 Star Wars titles on the Steam store on September 4, 2026, read Valve's compatibility report for each and paired it with the community rating on ProtonDB. The full tables are below. The short version is that on a Deck you can play almost the entire Star Wars back catalog, and the games most likely to give you trouble are the ones that need EA's launcher, not the twenty-year-old ones.
How to read the ratings
Valve's badge tells you what happens if you install the game and press play, nothing more. Verified means it worked with no setup. Playable means it worked but something needed attention: a launcher to click through, small text, a controller layout to pick. Unsupported means Valve's testers either could not run it or would not sign off on it, and the report usually says nothing beyond "SteamOS does not support this game." Valve does not retest often, so an old badge can lag a fix by years.
ProtonDB is players reporting what happened on their own Decks. Platinum runs perfectly out of the box, Gold runs perfectly after tweaks, Silver runs with minor problems, Bronze and Borked speak for themselves. It is a crowd, so it is only as good as the number of reports; we list that number beside each rating.
When the two disagree, ProtonDB is usually the one telling you about the present. When they agree, believe them.
Zero Company on Steam Deck
Valve's badge is Unsupported, reason given: SteamOS does not support the game. Nothing more specific than that. Bit Reactor saw it coming: the launch FAQ says the game "will not be Steam Deck verified at launch, but if anything changes we'll be sure to update our community." The Steam page lists no third-party launcher, no account requirement and no anti-cheat, which is unusual for an EA release and is probably why the community numbers look the way they do.
ProtonDB has 164 reports and a Platinum rating, trending Platinum, marked strong confidence. That is more reports than any Star Wars game except Fallen Order, Battlefront II and The Old Republic, and it is nine days after launch. People are buying the game to play it on the Deck and it is working for them.
We have not tested it on a Deck ourselves, so hold this loosely. What we can say is that a turn-based tactics game with no online component is about the most forgiving kind of game Proton deals with, and that the PC settings we recommend lean toward the low end anyway. If it fails for you, Steam's two-hour refund window still applies to Deck play.
The Verified ten
Install, press play, done. Every one of these passed all four of Valve's checks: controller layout, button glyphs, legible text and performance on the default settings.

Two things stand out. Every LEGO Star Wars game on Steam is Verified, so if you bought a Deck for the family this is your section. And every remaster Aspyr or Nightdive has shipped since 2024 is Verified, which is what a remaster should be.
The Playable sixteen
These all work. Valve flagged something on each, and in most cases the something is the same two items: the default controller layout is not fully mapped, and the on-screen keyboard does not pop up on its own when a text box wants input. Both are ten-second fixes. The ones with a real caveat get a note.

The pattern in the flight sims is worth a sentence: they run, but they were designed for a stick and a keyboard full of shortcuts, and a Deck has neither. Squadrons is the one flight game built for a pad, and it is the one that is Verified.
The Unsupported thirteen, sorted by whether to believe it
This is where Valve's badge and the players part ways. Of the thirteen, Valve gave a specific reason for exactly one. The rest just say the OS does not support the game.

The Jedi Knight games are the clearest case of a stale badge. Four Gold ratings across four games, two of them trending Platinum, and Valve's report on each is a single line. If you want to play Jedi Outcast on a Deck, the evidence says you can.
Not rated yet
Galactic Racer launches October 6 and has no badge; we will add it to this page once Valve and the first players have had a go. Star Wars Pinball VR and Droid Repair Bay are VR titles with no Deck rating for the obvious reason. Imperial Assault: Legends of the Alliance is a companion app for the board game, not a game.
What is not on Steam at all
A Deck can run GOG games through Heroic or Lutris, and that is the only route to Star Wars: Rebellion, Yoda Stories and the handful of LucasArts titles that never came to Steam. Nothing above applies to them; ProtonDB does not track them either.
Our picks, if you only install three
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Verified, Platinum, and it looks better on the Deck's screen than most current releases do on a monitor.
- Knights of the Old Republic. Playable badge, Gold with 174 reports, and a 2003 RPG at 40 hours is exactly what a handheld is for. Fix the resolution once and forget it.
- Zero Company, with the refund window in mind. Turn-based, offline, Platinum on 164 reports. The red badge is Valve being cautious, and that is fine, but it is not evidence that the game does not run.
Method
Every game on the Steam store matching "Star Wars" as of September 4, 2026, excluding soundtracks, DLC and non-game software. Valve's rating and per-check results come from Steam's own compatibility report for each app. ProtonDB tiers and report counts are as published on the same day. Badges change and reports keep coming in, so if you are reading this months later, check the store page before you buy.
