Zero Company still has more players on Steam than every other Star Wars game put together, and on Monday afternoon that lead was 58 players. At 2:09pm Central our tracker read 8,141 in Zero Company and 8,083 across the other fifteen Star Wars games we follow. Three weeks after the biggest Star Wars launch in years, the ratio is 1.01 to one.
| Monday's readings (Central) | Zero Company | Everything else | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2:11am | 6,120 | 5,263 | 1.16 |
| 2:09pm | 8,141 | 8,083 | 1.01 |
| 7:25pm | 12,961 | 12,051 | 1.08 |
| 11:59pm | 11,430 | 9,602 | 1.19 |
Why it matters
On Sunday we wrote that the gap had closed from 2.2 to one down to 1.2 to one at the weekly peak, and that it was on course to cross this coming weekend. Monday got closer than any weekend has. The honest part: it still has not crossed. Across 141 readings since August 24, there is not one where the rest of Star Wars outdrew Zero Company.
The two halves are moving differently. Zero Company's weekday floor keeps falling, from 7,528 on Friday to 6,120 on Monday morning. The rest of the catalogue does not fall, because there is nothing left to fall off: it has held a band between about 5,300 and 16,000 every day for three weeks. Old Star Wars games have a floor that a new one has to descend to.
That also tells you where the crossing will happen first. Not at a Sunday peak, when a new release still pulls a crowd, but on a Tuesday morning.
The other thing in Monday's numbers: Empire at War, from 2006, sat at 1,421 players, which is more than Jedi: Survivor (981) and Star Wars Outlaws (370) combined. Our ranking of every Star Wars strategy game's staying power keeps looking conservative.
The details
- Readings come from our own tracker, which samples Steam concurrents for 16 Star Wars games every two hours. "Everything else" is the other fifteen: SWTOR, Jedi: Survivor, Fallen Order, both Battlefront IIs, Battlefront (2015), Outlaws, Empire at War, KOTOR, KOTOR II, Republic Commando, Jedi Academy, Jedi Outcast, LEGO Skywalker Saga and Squadrons.
- Because we sample every couple of hours, a crossing that happened between two readings would not show up here. These are Steam numbers only, so console, Game Pass and EA app players are in none of them, and Galaxy of Heroes is mobile and has no Steam count at all.
- Our week-three forecast (a floor of 6,000 to 8,000, weekday highs of 12,000 to 15,000) is holding on both counts so far.
- Everything we have published on the game is on the Zero Company hub, and the wider picture is in the Star Wars games people are actually playing.
