Star Wars: Galactic Racer is in reviewers' hands. Bespin Bulletin reported on September 27 that multiple publications and creators now have the full game; Star Wars Explained and the streamer BehavingBeardly have both said so publicly. Nobody has shared a review embargo date. The game launches October 6, eight days from now, and as of this evening Fuse Games has said nothing about preloading, a Steam Deck rating or a recommended PC spec.
Why it matters
Copies going out a week and a half before launch is the normal, healthy version of this. The date that matters next is the embargo, and nobody has it. If reviews land several days before October 6, that is the publisher telling you it is comfortable with what people will say. If they land the day before, or on the day, read that as caution and wait. Either way, one more week of patience is cheap before you spend $59.99 on a debut studio's first game.
The other news is small but closes a thread from our voice-cast brief: Fuse named Kris Laudrum as Kestar Bool on September 25. Laudrum is an English voice and performance-capture actor, and Fuse's music and narrative director Nathaniel Daw describes the performance as "dripping with arrogance." Kestar is the reigning League champion, the campaign's villain and, per the studio, a spoiled Caskadag with a father to impress.
The details
- Review copies: out, per Bespin Bulletin on September 27. No outlet or creator has named an embargo date. We will post it the day it appears.
- Preload: nothing on Steam, the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store as of Monday evening. Bespin expects word "imminently"; nobody official has said so.
- Unlock time: the PlayStation Store lists October 6 at 09:00 UTC, which is 4am Central, 5am Eastern, 2am Pacific and 10am in the UK. Steam trackers show the same.
- Steam Deck: still no Valve rating. The Steam page badge reads "Unknown" and Valve's compatibility report for the game is empty. Fuse has not commented.
- PC spec: the Steam page still lists only a minimum (Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 12GB of RAM, RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT or Arc A580, 50GB on an SSD). No recommended spec has been added.
- Console badges: the Xbox Store lists 4K Ultra HD, HDR10 and 60fps+ for Series X|S. The PlayStation listing counts 29 accessibility features and up to 12 online players; neither store mentions PS5 Pro or 120Hz.
- File size: around 36GB, per the PlayStation Game Size account as quoted by Bespin. Treat that as unofficial until a store shows it.
None of this changes the buying advice in our preorder guide: Standard edition if you are buying, and there is no penalty for waiting until the reviews are in. If you were hoping to play on a Deck, keep waiting until someone has run it on one. The full pre-launch file is current as of today.
