Thirty Star Wars games play on a PS5 today, and the ones to buy this week are four remasters on sale through October 7: the Battlefront Classic Collection at $26.24, Dark Forces Remaster at $14.99, and Bounty Hunter and Jedi Power Battles at $7.99 each. Fewer than half of the thirty are real PS5 games; the rest are PS4 titles running through backward compatibility, PS1 and PS2 classics inside PS Plus Premium, and two VR games that need a headset Sony stopped selling. Every entry is below, sorted by how it actually runs, with the price the PlayStation Store showed on September 27.

The short version

  • On sale through October 7: Battlefront Classic Collection $26.24 (was $34.99), Dark Forces Remaster $14.99 (was $29.99), Bounty Hunter $7.99 (was $19.99), Jedi Power Battles $7.99 (was $19.99). All four are native PS5 versions.
  • PS Plus Extra gets you one Star Wars game: Outlaws, added May 19, 2026. Jedi: Survivor was in the catalog from February to August 2025 and has left.
  • EA Play (EA's own subscription; PS Plus does not include it) covers Jedi: Survivor, Jedi: Fallen Order, Squadrons and Battlefront II (2017). The store badges each of those "Included with EA Play".
  • PS Plus Premium adds eight classics from the PS1, PS2 and PSP era, from Racer Revenge to the game we put in the worst Star Wars games ever made.
  • Not on PS5 at all: Knights of the Old Republic, Empire at War, X-Wing and TIE Fighter, The Old Republic, Galaxy of Heroes. Zero Company is on PS5, which trips people up, and Galactic Racer arrives October 6.

Not sure which to start with? Our what Star Wars game should I play guide sorts by taste. The one-line PS5 version: lightsaber combat is Jedi: Survivor, open-world scoundrel life is Outlaws, squad tactics is Zero Company, big dumb 64-player battles are the Classic Collection, and playing with a kid is LEGO Skywalker Saga. PS5 Pro owners get the most out of Survivor and Outlaws; both carry the Pro Enhanced badge and both get a 60fps mode that keeps the visual features the base console drops.

Native PS5 games

These have a proper PS5 version: a PS5 SKU on the store, DualSense support where the developer bothered, and the console's full performance rather than a PS4 game running faster.

Jedi: Survivor is the best game on this list and the one that punishes a base PS5 the most. Since patch 7 in September 2023, Performance mode on a standard PS5 holds 60fps by dropping ray tracing; a PS5 Pro puts the ray tracing back at 60. If you own a Pro, this is the game that shows why. Our Survivor guide has where it stands now; it is $69.99 on the store today, and the Deluxe edition was $22.49 until September 24, so wait for the next sale or use EA Play.

Jedi: Fallen Order got a free PS5 upgrade in June 2021 with a 4K/30 Quality mode and a 1440p/60 Performance mode. It is the start of Cal's story and the cheaper way in; our Fallen Order guide says play it first.

Outlaws is the only Star Wars game in PS Plus Extra right now, and the other Pro showcase: the base PS5 offers 30fps Quality (40 at 120Hz) or 60fps Performance, while the Pro collapses that into a single mode that runs the Quality visuals at 60. There is a free demo on the store if you want to check the stealth before committing; our Outlaws guide has the longer answer.

Zero Company launched August 27 with a PS5 Pro Enhanced badge and no published breakdown of its modes. It is not in PS Plus and not in the EA Play library; EA Play members get 10 percent off and nothing else.

Galactic Racer is a preorder until October 6. Fuse Games has said it targets 60fps on every PlayStation, with PSSR upscaling on the Pro, and the store page shows no Pro badge yet. Online play needs PS Plus. Our preorder guide covers the three editions, including the $159.99 physical Collector's.

The Battlefront Classic Collection is the only way to play the 2004 and 2005 Pandemic Battlefronts on a current console, and on PS5 it is a much easier recommendation than on PC: 64-player online, split-screen, and trophies, with none of the Steam version's baggage. $26.24 is a fair price for both campaigns and Galactic Conquest. PC players still have a live community for the original, per our Battlefront II (2005) online guide; on PS5 this collection is the whole scene.

Bounty Hunter, Dark Forces Remaster and Jedi Power Battles are the other three sale items, and each got real work rather than a resolution bump. Aspyr's Bounty Hunter maps each of Jango's weapons to the DualSense triggers, pipes chatter through the controller speaker, and unlocks Boba Fett as a playable skin. Nightdive's Dark Forces Remaster runs on its KEX engine at up to 4K and 120fps, and it is the best 1990s Star Wars game with a modern version anywhere. Jedi Power Battles, the PS1 co-op brawler, came back in January 2025 with modern controls, thirteen new characters and couch co-op. At $7.99, the two Aspyr titles are the cheapest native PS5 Star Wars games you can buy.

LEGO Skywalker Saga is full price on PlayStation this week, whatever an old price-tracker snippet says; all three editions show $59.99, $69.99 and $79.99 on the store. It runs at a dynamic 2160p/30 or 1440p/60.

PS4 games that run on a PS5

These have no PS5 version. They install and play through backward compatibility, at PS4 resolution and frame rate with whatever the console's Game Boost adds. Nothing here got a PS5 patch.

Battlefront II (2017) is the busiest Star Wars multiplayer game on any platform and it is still, on PS5, a PS4 game. EA never shipped a current-generation patch, so it runs as a PS4 game with Game Boost smoothing the frame rate. It plays fine, and at $19.99 or inside EA Play it is the cheapest way into a full lobby tonight; our Battlefront II guide has the state of the servers.

Squadrons is in the same position, and worse off than on Xbox: the 120fps update went to Series X only. Buy it for the campaign or skip it. The EA Star Wars Triple Bundle (Squadrons, Fallen Order Deluxe and Battlefront II Celebration) is $89.99, or $80.99 with EA Play, and there is no reason to buy it while Fallen Order is $39.99 alone and the other two are in EA Play.

The Aspyr ports from 2019 to 2021 (Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, Racer, Republic Commando) are PS4 releases and Aspyr has not upgraded them. They work, they have trophies, and Jedi Academy kept its online multiplayer. Jedi Outcast's port dropped multiplayer and is $5 cheaper than Academy. None are on sale this week, unlike Aspyr's newer native titles, so if you want the whole prequel-era set, buy Bounty Hunter and Jedi Power Battles now and wait on the rest.

PS Plus Premium classics

Premium's catalog of emulated PS1, PS2 and PSP games includes eight Star Wars titles. The three PS2 games first came to PS4 in 2016 and can be bought outright; the rest are Premium-only as far as the store shows.

GameOriginalRuns asBuy outrightIn Premium since

If you already pay for Premium, Racer Revenge and Jedi Starfighter are the two worth an evening: a podracing sequel up-rendered to 1080p with trophies, and a starfighter game with two-player co-op. Demolition is a vehicular combat game with Star Wars vehicles that we ranked among the worst Star Wars games, and it now has 33 trophies, which is the most anyone has ever cared about it.

Two things Premium does not have, despite what older lists say: the original 1995 Dark Forces (only the 2024 remaster exists on PlayStation, sold separately), and the PSP version of Battlefront II (2005), which showed up in the store database in December 2022 and never released. The Force Unleashed I and II appear in some third-party Premium lists as PS3 streaming titles; we could not confirm either on the store, and PS3 streaming has been reported broken this year, so treat them as reportedly streamable at best.

VR: PS VR2 and PS VR1 are different lists

PS VR2 has exactly one Star Wars game: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, Enhanced Edition, rebuilt for the headset by ILM Immersive at $39.99. It is a native PS5 title and requires PS VR2; there is no flat mode.

PS VR1 owners with the PS5 camera adapter have three more, all PS4 games: Vader Immortal ($29.99), Star Wars Pinball VR ($24.99), and Squadrons' optional full-VR mode. Battlefront (2015) also carries the free X-Wing VR mission, which needs the old headset.

Vader Immortal does not run on PS VR2. Sony's new headset has no backward compatibility with PS VR1 games, so the store will sell you Vader Immortal on a PS5 you cannot play it on unless the original headset and adapter are in the closet. Check before you buy.

Not on PS5

  • Knights of the Old Republic and KOTOR II. Aspyr's ports went to Switch, mobile and PC; there has never been a PlayStation version, and the remake has no store page. This is the biggest gap on the platform.
  • Empire at War, X-Wing, TIE Fighter, The Old Republic. PC only, and they will stay that way.
  • Galaxy of Heroes. Mobile and a PC client. No console.
  • The Rogue Squadron games. N64, GameCube and PC. Nothing on the PlayStation Store.
  • Hunters. Never came to PS5, and the servers shut down October 1, 2025.
  • Battlefront II (2005) as a standalone. Not a PS2 classic on Premium; the only console version is inside the Classic Collection above.
  • Kinect Star Wars (Xbox 360 only) and Super Bombad Racing (PS2 disc only, never re-released), for anyone hunting the deep cuts.

What we would do

With a PS5 and $50 this week: the Battlefront Classic Collection, Dark Forces Remaster and Bounty Hunter come to $49.22 and cover a 64-player shooter, the best-preserved 1990s Star Wars game and a prequel-era action game with a proper DualSense pass. Add Jedi Power Battles for $7.99 if someone else in the house will play co-op. Then subscribe to EA Play for a month rather than paying $69.99 for Survivor, and, if you have PS Plus Extra already, Outlaws is sitting in your catalog. Galactic Racer is nine days out; wait for the reviews unless the preorder livery matters to you.

The details

  • Every price, sale, edition and subscription badge is from the US PlayStation Store, read on September 27, 2026, and the four sale prices were checked again before this went up. The store lists the sale as ending October 8 at 6:59 UTC, which is 1:59am Central; in practice, October 7 is the last day.
  • Subscription status comes from each game's own store badge ("Included with EA Play", "Subscribe to PS Plus Extra to access", Premium's "Included") and from PlayStation Blog's monthly catalog posts. Battlefront (2015) is the one EA Play call we could not confirm from the badge alone.
  • PS5 performance modes are from developer patch notes and from PlayStation Universe, Push Square, TheSixthAxis and Press Start coverage of each game. Zero Company's modes have not been broken down by anyone we trust, so we have not guessed.
  • Catalogs change monthly and sales end. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it in the article, visibly.
